Business Spotlight: Nicki Lenore
Nicki Nysven is an artist turning a passion into purpose with her booming western inspired art business called Nicki Lenore. She creates custom artwork, painting on just about anything from canvas to apparel.
Nicki feels art is limitless. She repurposes apparel (like the painted Converse slip on sneakers above) and designer handbags. You name on it, she can paint on it.
Nicki has always loved to draw and paint but didn’t realize it would become such a passion of hers. She has two children who have been deeply affected by chronic illnesses, Lyme disease and co-infections, and her family has been deeply affected by them too. Realizing she needed to change her mindset from negative to positive, she turned to art as a form of self-therapy. Nicki says, “I create from the heart, I can paint on anything, and I love to repurpose, breathing life back into apparel or designer handbags.”
After sharing some of her art on her Instagram page, people started to express interest in it. Soon her followers and friends were asking to buy her paintings and paint specific things for them. The interest kept growing so she decided to make it official, and her new art business “Nicki Lenore” was born. She says, “It’s never too late to start a business! Here I am 49 years old and I’m an entrepreneur, started my business in my mid forties. Never say never at any age.”
Nicki lives on the beautiful Central Coast in California with her husband and two kids. She gets a lot of her inspiration from her breathtaking surroundings, and nature. She starts her day bright and early at the crack of dawn to let her chickens “The Cali Chicks” out. She then starts checking things off her to do list including social media for her business, helping her 16 year old daughter with her daily treatments of vitamins, medications, and supplements plus her online schooling. Next she spends her time working on her art and any commissioned pieces she may have that need completion.
“I love creating and I love helping others. I love sharing what I love to inspire. Social Media has been an incredible platform to do that & it has been a huge positive place for me to be me. I hope to continue to make an impact through my passion, my art. Whether it’s making others happy or educating and spreading awareness through sharing my story of how my art business originated. I am excited to see where my art journey continues to takes me and all who I connect with on the way.”
