Business Spotlight: Buckaroo Bling
Looking for unique handcrafted jewelry inspired by the old west? Buckaroo Bling is made in the beautiful countryside of Montana and features pieces that nurture your inner cowgirl.
Buckaroo Bling is handcrafted contemporary boho western style jewelry & accessories made with American mined turquoise, Montana deer leather, sterling silver, and copper.
Jelena Louie started Buckaroo Bling when her family moved to Montana in the spring of 2018, where she was inspired by her new surroundings. But jewelry making was not new to her, she has a background in art and design including a degree in textile design, and two years of apprenticing with a jeweler. However, Buckaroo Bling is the first time she feels she has a cohesive jewelry collection to offer her customers, and a structure to provide her line to wholesale buyers as well.
Jelena calls herself the Chief Wire Wrangler & boss lady for Buckaroo Bling, but has help from her husband as well on the tech side of things. Her studio is in her home, and since this year all of her retail events were cancelled due to the pandemic, she’s started offering free pick up which allows her to meet customers in her local area. She also has a passion for horse rescue and currently donates 50% of her sales on certain special event days to support Freedom Horse Farm just down the road from her in Kalispell, Montana.
Buckaroo Bling has also been inspired by the many different places she’s lived over the years from Europe to California, Alaska, to Kansas, and South Dakota to Montana. She believes all the interaction with different cultures has influenced her esthetic and her designs. Jelena also adds, “My family is a family of faith, we strive to conduct our lives in a manner that is pleasing to God in everything we do.”
