Will this year's Tarleton rodeo team bring home a National Championship? 56th Annual Stampede – Tarleton State University
This past weekend the 56th Annual Tarleton Stampede rodeo competition was held at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville, Texas.
The 56th Annual Tarleton Stampede Rodeo is the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region (NIRA) season finale. The event determines which cowboys and cowgirls go to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming this summer. According to Visit Casper, the top 3 students in each event and the top 2 men and women’s teams from NIRA’s 11 regions will qualify for the CNFR. Learn more, here.
The men’s team has 15 colleges competing in their bracket, and the women’s team has 16 colleges competing in their bracket.

Overall, the Tarleton men’s team ranked #2 in their conference, and the women’s team ranked #3. Since 1947, Tarleton Rodeo teams have won 7 national championships and 28 individual national championships.
