Kaycee Hollingback Takes Home $100K at RFD-TV’s American
SOSU Sophomore, Kaycee Hollingback is RFDTV’s THE AMERICAN $100,000 Breakaway Roping Champion
THE AMERICAN RODEO Rural Media Group produces THE AMERICAN, the world’s largest and richest one-day rodeo held at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. The event brings underdogs, stars, and legends to the same arena for a record-breaking payout of over $2 million and 60,000 attendees from all across the country.
Kaycee recently competed in the Last Chance American Qualifier and earned two qualifying spots to The American slack performance. During the slack performance, she competed against approximately 460 other women for a chance to compete in the top 40 at the Semi-finals in Fort Worth. Kaycee placed sixth in the Semifinals and earned a spot to run for the $100,000 in RFDtv's The American. The long round of The American was held on March 7 and featured the top 16 breakaway ropers. Only the eight fastest ropers advanced to the short round on Sunday. On Sunday, Kaycee earned her way into the Shootout Round, which was comprised of the four women with the fastest average on two calves. Kaycee went on to rope her final calf in 2.17 seconds and became RFDTV’s THE AMERICAN Breakaway Roping Champion. Along with the title, Kaycee earned $100,000, a Cactus Saddle, a Champion Gist Buckle, and a Yeti Cooler.
Kaycee Hollingback is a 2018 graduate of Wilburton High School and is attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University on both a rodeo scholarship and an academic scholarship. She is majoring in Elementary Education and was recently named a National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association American Scholar. She competes in goat tying and breakaway roping for the Savage Storm. Between practice and school, she works at Durant Stockyards and J.Price Energy Services. After graduation, Kaycee hopes to pursue a teaching career or continue working in the energy field.
Kaycee is very thankful for everyone who supported her on this journey. It means so much to her knowing so many were pulling for her. Kaycee plans to continue life very much as before. She plans to work, go to class, and to rodeo.
